ENGLISH PROFICIENCY, PUBLIC SPEAKING EXPERIENCE, AND COMMUNICATION APPREHENSION IN ORAL PRESENTATION OF POLYTECHNIC STUDENTS

چکیده

Oral presentation apprehension plagues people when they communicate orally, especially make oral presentations in public. This study examined the relationship between English proficiency, public speaking experience, and communication polytechnic students during presentations. The involved 62 from a Sarawak, Malaysia, who filled PRCA-24 questionnaire that focused on elements of speaking. results showed 6.4% had low level apprehension, while 71% moderate apprehension. For 22.6% students, was very high. felt anxious uncomfortable asked to give an presentation. t-test male significantly differed female regarding their mean scores experienced greater (M= 2.19 ± 0.52) than 2.00 0.44). There significant negative experience These may suggest extensive training can improve skills enhance employability opportunities.
